OUR WINES
Throughout each summer we watch the weather in California as much as we do here in Boston. We are looking for the growing conditions in a few areas of The Golden State so we can figure out what wine to make. We are in a unique position living on the East Coast as we can choose the best grapes of the season and are not committed to buying fruit a season in advance. We usually make only one wine a year - a dry red wine. Sometimes we get inspired and make a second wine; perhaps a white, a rosé, or a sweet wine.
Once we know what variety of vinifera grapes should be the best we make a couple visits to select wholesalers in Everett, MA to see what fruit is really the best. Based on color, sugar level, and timing we select a wine to make for the year. The grapes are loaded up on a truck, 36-pounds at a time, and driven to the Linus Creek Winery where the crush party takes place. A couple weeks after the crush we press and the wine hangs out, cozied up in oak barrels, in the Lincoln woods for the winter. In late spring we bottle which is just in time for the July party. Hope to see you there.
- 2009 Old-Vine Zinfandel
- 2008 Rosé
- 2008 Syrah
- 2007 Cab/Merlot
- 2007 Chardonnay
- 2006 Chenin Blanc
The grapes were crushed on September 28th and pressed on October 7th for this red zinfandel. Early aromas of fruit and a wonderful spiciness.
This dry rosé is a wine-drinker's delight! Unique aromas of rose petals and tar bring to mind the famous Italian brachetto wines. Whether on its own or with a range of food from mild cheese to BBQ it is extremely versatile, as its mild oak character allows the fruit to express itself. If wine drinkers are not in your company this would also transition superbly into a sangria.
An historically challenging varietal, Syrah expresses with notes of spicy blueberry and plum fruit, a subtle hint of chocolate, leather and cured olives, and finishes with beautifully integrated oak. A deliciously fruity and bold wine. Pair with spicy tomato sauce or grilled meats.
The pride and joy of Linus Creek. This traditional 80/20 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot boasts inky, deep purple color, rich but mellow fruit character, and well-balanced tannin. A blend of French & Hungarian oak contributes to it's complexity without overwhelming the palate. It is quaffable on its own or with rich Beouf Bourgeounon. We predict this wine will improve with age until 2013. A real oenophiles dream.
Cindy & Will's nuptial wine. This lightly oaked, dry Chardonnay has delicious notes of pears, ripe fruit, a touch of brioche, and a smooth buttery finish. Balanced on the palate with a focus on true varietal character, this wine pairs perfectly with summer pastas dishes or on it's own as youre preparing a meal. Shuck some oysters and open a bottle.
A dry, crisp, unoaked white wine designed to refresh after a summer afternoon bike ride. Its tart character and green apple aromas are sure to invigorate even the most tired cyclist. Bright and crisp, this wine pairs beautifully with guacamole or soft cheeses like triple crme and fresh summer fruit.
